Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately 47 square kilometers. However, its small size hides the beauty and diversity of its inhabitants. The reserve consists mainly of rhododendron and oak trees and is covered in dense forests of the Kumaon Highlands, which reach heights of 2,500 m. covering the hillside. The sanctuary is home to Wild Boars, Monkeys, Himalayan Black Bears, Jackals, Indian Red Foxes and Porcupines etc. Even the leopard, despite its elusiveness. It is also a bird watcher's paradise with more than 200 species of resident and migratory birds. 

Katarmal Sun Temple is an ancient Hindu temple situated at Katarmal village in Almora district of Uttarakhand. Katarmal Temple is dedicated to Lord Burhadita or Vriddhaditya (the old Sun God) and is one of the famous historical places of Kumaon hills in Uttarakhand. The present image of Surya in the temple dates back to 12th century. Built in the 9th century by Katarmalla, a Katyuri king, this temple is perched at an altitude of 2116 m.

Literally meaning one lakh caves, this is one of the most important pre-historic sites in the Himalayas. Fascinating pre-historic rock paintings have been discovered within the caves.

This open-air museum in Almora is home to a large collection of Chand and Katyuri dynasty artwork and artifacts that are noteworthy from an archaeological perspective. Also on exhibit are the Aipan, or folk paintings, of the area that depicts the state's rich tradition and culture.
