History

Bodh Gaya is regarded as the holiest site in Buddhism. It was called Uruwela in Buddha's time and it is located on the banks of the river. The history and archaeological records of this sacred Buddhist center date back to at least the 3rd century BC. For centuries religion, politics, mythology, and history have come together in a small town on the Palgu River south of Patna, the capital of India. This extraordinary place, Bodh Gaya, is considered the place of enlightenment or "Great Awakening" of Buddha (Gautama Siddhartha). It is here that Gautama Siddhartha left the life of the prince and meditated under the Bodhi tree. The events in the life of the Buddha are believed to have occurred sometime in the 5th century BC. Over 2,500 years later, Bodh Gaya is a great pilgrimage city filled with ancient, medieval and modern shrines, monasteries, temples and hotels.

The people of Bodhgaya are very simple, pious, and kind. They follow the simple life of the monks and believe in the teachings of the Buddha. Religion and language. The main religions believed by the Bodh Gaya people are Buddhism and Hinduism. The main languages here are Hindi, Bhojpuri, and English. Gaya is considered one of the four holy places for Buddhists famous for the Mahabodhi temple, Bodhi tree, and various Buddhist monasteries. It is very important to explain the life of Kyamuni.
