History
Ajmer is a historic and small city located on the Thar Desert sand dunes in Rajasthan. The city is well-known for being one of the most significant Muslim pilgrimage sites in Rajasthan, and it also features a few forts. This holy city in Rajasthan is a famous pilgrimage place for Muslims as well as visitors from all around India.
Ajaymeru was named after its founder, Ajayraja II, who was well-known among the Chauhan Rulers in the 7th century, according to Ajmer History. The reign of Prithviraj Chauhan was the pinnacle of Ajmer's renown. Ajmer is also known for the magnificent Taragarh Fort, Asia's first hill fort. The Chauhan Rulers' main home was Taragarh Fort.

Ajmer is a popular tourist attraction as well as a Hindu and Muslim pilgrimage site. The ultimate resting place of the Sufi Saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti, is frequented by Muslims from all over the world; in fact, both Hindus and Muslims venerate the Dargah. The huge Ana Sagar Lake and the rugged Aravalli Hills surround the city. Although the most well-known tourist destination in Ajmer is the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, the tomb of Khwaja Muin-Ud-din Chishti, the city is also well-known for the Jain faith and is home to an amazing golden Jain Temple. Ajmer is also well-known for its educational institutions. The Mayo College was one of India's early schools, acting as a stepping stone for the British educational system, and is now one of Ajmer's most well-known tourist sites. Pushkar is a famous tourist and pilgrimage destination a few kilometres away from Ajmer. The Pushkar Fair attracts thousands of tourists from far and wide each year to Pushkar.
