History
The Ajmer Government Museum was founded in October 1908 under the leadership of Sir Carson and Sir John Marshall, the Director of Archeology in India. The museum is located at Fort Akbari, commissioned by Akbar in 1570 and the residence of his son Prince Salim. It now houses a collection of Mughal and Rajput armor and sculptures.
The gallery of the Azimer Government Museum has sections on archeology, arts, arsenals, crafts, industry, and children's galleries. Popular sculptures in the museum include Vishnu, Surya, Trimurti, Lakshmi Narayan, Hariharan, Coober, and Levanta.
