History
Srinagar was ruled by the Peacock Empire until around the 14th century when King Ashoka introduced Buddhism into the Kashmir Valley. It is believed that the Guishuang people controlled this area in the first century, and they ruled this place from their strongholds in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Even King Vikramaditya of Ujjain ruled the place and then transferred control to a nomadic tribe called the Huns in the 6th century. One of the most feared rulers of the city is Mihir Kula who belongs to this tribe.
After the 14th century, the city was ruled by the Mughal dynasty and ruled by Muslim kings. The city became the capital during the reign of Yusuf Shah Chak, and Akbar established his government after the fall of Yusuf Shah Chak Quan, he cheated on him to death. The Mughal dynasty ended in 1707 with the death of its last king Aurangzeb, and then Srinagar came under the rule of the Durani Empire. This empire is the leader of the Pasture tribe, which ruled Srinagar for decades. The government of the Sikhs was established in 1814, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh ruled Kashmir. Before the British rulers entered India, it was ruled by Sikhs. Srinagar was not considered a princely state in British India until 1947
