History

Along with indigenous Kumaoni paintings known as Aipan, antiques from the reigns of the Katyuri and Chand kings have been preserved. People are reminded of the battle for independence by letters Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel sent to GB Pant and by flyers criticizing the house detention of notable figures like Jawahar Lal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi. Basiswar Sen (Boshi Sen), a renowned agricultural scientist from India, established his laboratory there and added items from his personal collection to the museum. In addition to these, the public museum has also held significant fabrics, miniature paintings, woodworks, terracotta sculptures, musical instruments, coins, manuscripts, and other items of historical, aesthetic, or cultural interest.
