The biggest event held at the temple is a four day long fest held in November on the day of the first full moon, where on the first day of the fair, female devotees light lamps of pure ghee and set sail to them on a leave in the sacred tank. The other major event that takes place happens fifteen days after Diwali and this is when everyone who visits takes a dip in the tank and then walks around it.

History

Ram Tirith Temple is said to be the hermitage of St. Valmiki. It is also legendary that he composed the story of Ramayana on these grounds. The Ram Tirith Temple is mentioned in Ramayana as the birthplace of Sri Ram's children, Love and Kush. Punjab's Bedis (Guru Nanak Dev, the founding prophet of Sikhism was Bedi) had a pedigree from Kush and Sodi (the tenth Sikh prophet, Guru Govind Singh was Sodi). Goddess Sita took refuge here and as a result, many pilgrims rush to the temple to bathe in the well that is said to contain holy water, Lord Hanuman is said to have dug the well for Mother Sita. The hut where Sita gave birth to her twins still stands and is visited by many pilgrims.
