It is a diversion head project across the Wainganga River in the Balaghat area of Madhya Pradesh's Dhuty Dam, which is formally known as the Dhuti Weir. During the construction of the dam in 1923, British civil engineer Sir George Moss Harriot served as the project's architect. On either side of the dam, there are two canals.
