History

Prayagraj, also known as Allahabad, is one of the biggest towns in Uttar Pradesh and is located at the confluence of three rivers: the Ganga, the Yamuna, and the unseen Saraswati. According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Brahma, the creator God of the Trinity, chose a location on Earth (ie Prayag) to conduct 'Prakrista Yag' at the beginning of creation and named it Tirth raj, or the King of all pilgrimage destinations. The Aryans founded their first colonies in this city, which was then called Prayagraj is a historical and mythical city in India, having a magnificent history. In 643 BC, Huan Tsang, a Chinese explorer, discovered Prayag, which was populated by numerous Hindus who worshiped the place.

1575 AD — Impressed by the strategic importance of the SANGAM, Emperor Akbar founded the city of “ILLAHABAS,” which later became ALLAHABAD, which means “The City of Allaha.” In medieval India, the city was the religious and cultural center of the country. It was the Mughal provincial capital for a long time. The Marathas eventually conquered it. Following the first war of independence, the town was renamed "ALLAHABAD" and was designated as the capital of the United Province of Agra and Oudh. . Prayagraj became a center of study in 1887, when the Institution of Allahabad, India's fourth oldest university, was established.
