Ananda Bhavan is a historic house museum in Allahabad, the former home of the Nehru family. The vast mansion witnessed the lives of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Featuring high ceilings and artistic carved furniture, the rooms are behind glass dividers that seem frozen in the days gone by. It also served as a meeting place for senior members of the Indian National Congress. Anand Bhawan was donated to the Government of India in 1970 by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the granddaughter of Morital Nehru, and the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru. It was transformed into a museum that holds books and memorabilia for her father and grandfather. Its columnar veranda and tall rooms are already suffering from many destinies. Some are known and documented by modern Indian historians. Today, it is one of the most well-operated museums in the country.
