The Khirchi Puja is a grand mela held here in the month of July with religious fervor and devotion with lakhs of people participating in the celebrations. There are many temples in the state of Tripura but among many one that stands out for being the collective temple for gods and goddesses is the Chaturdasha Temple.

History

The revered gods and goddesses of the royal lineage who are worshipped at the Chaturdasha Temple were eventually included into Hindu prayer and rituals. They number fourteen or fourteen. The names of the 14 deities are in the Kokborok language and they are constructed in a tribal style. The main deities are Brahma, Shiva, Durga, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Kartikeya, Ganesha, Saraswati, Samudra, Prithvi, Ganga, Agni, Kamadeva, and Himadri, who are known in the local dialect as Burasa, Bikhatra, Akhatra,Lampra,Thumnairok, Bonirok, Twima, Sangrom The Chaturdasha Devata Temple is an exquisite work of art that seamlessly combines tribal beliefs and Hindu tales to instill a genuine feeling of trust in visitors.
