Chausath Yogini Temple is one of the ancient heritage sites in the country. Built by the Kalchuri rulers in 10th Century AD, the temple has unique resemblance to the Khajuraho’s Chausath Yogini by structure. It has the cellar for 64 Yoginis along with Goddess Durga. Yogini is a lady attendant of goddess who eliminates illusion with fiery passion through liberation and insight. It is located near Marble Rocks and Narmada River in Bhedaghat. The temple exudes the richness of ancient dynasties ruled the city.
The temple was made basically of hard granite during Kalchuri period. Later on, Mughal invaders deformed and destroyed the temple. Since then, the monument remained as is. You may visit and witness the signs of damages caused by them in these structures.
