History

Erected in 16th century AD, the tomb of Shah Shuja contains the mortal remains to Begum Shuza. Builtt in stone it stands on a raised fluted circular plinth and plastered with shell mortar and decorated with paintings. The tomb is crowned with a dome. The 16th century construction of Nadir Shah tomb is built on a raised platform with flat facades. The chamber is occupied by three graves. The dome is supported on the eight archways.Raja’s Chhatri near Bordha gate was erected in honour of the memory of Raja Jai Singh, where he was cremated. It is a magnificent open columned pavilion. It was constructed by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb (1658-1707).The Palace situated in the Fort excluding the Hammam Khana is mostly in a ruined condition. The extant walls and ceiling are decorated with paintings on honey comb work. Hammam Khana was constructed during Mughal Period. The baths bear an inscription of Khan Khana Mirza Abdul Rahim Khana, the famous minister of Akbar and Jahangir. The rooms have domed roof. The Hammam is beautifully decorated with paintings.
