History

Indore is one of the most popular historical cities, it is the largest and most populous city in Madhya Pradesh, India. Indore was established in the 18th century by local landowners on the Narmada river valley route as a commercial market, who created Indreshwar Tempe (1741), from which the name of the city of Indore was derived. The city was planned and built by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar. It was the capital of the princely state of Maratha Holkars and the seat of the British-Indian Institution. It was the summer capital of the British before merging with Madhya Pradesh in 1948.

Indore was occupied by the Marathas during the war with the invading Afghan Ahmad Shah Abdali. But it didn't last long, because they had to hand over the city to the British for peace. In the end, the British handed the city over to the ruler of the Holka dynasty. Maharaja Malhar Rao Holkar led the dynasty. This beautiful city has been under the rule of the Horla dynasty until the British ruled the country. After independence, the city merged with many other cities to form Central Bharat, which is now Madhya Pradesh. Modern Indore is now the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh.
