History

The old name of the temple was  'Anandeswaram' in historic times. The Sanctorum of the temple is significant on account that it's amongst the selected Hindu shrines in India which have the idols of Sree Krishna, Lord Vishnu, Bhoomi Devi (Goddess Earth), and Lakshmi Devi all together under a single roof. The idol of Devi Parvathi in the shrine is that in a standing posture with a lotus flower in her hand and thus the goddess is recognized as “Swayamvara Parvathi”. The idol of Lord Shiva is the same as in other Shiva temples in the country. In the year 1806, the temple was  renovated and a brand new idol of 'Panchaloha' was installed. Panchaloha is fabricated from 5 metals: iron, copper, tin, silver, and gold. The annual festival of 'Anandavalleeswaram Mahadeva Temple' is celebrated for ten days in the month of March–April. As a part of the yearly celebration, there are numerous rituals and cultural programs comprising dance, dramas, and songs.
