The Sri Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Lake Temple is located 30 km from Bekal in the Kasaragod district of Kerala. It is a significant Hindu shrine with a mention in the ancient texts many times. The temple The scenery on the way to the temple opens up a wide panorama with vast hills in the background. This magnificent temple sits on a rectangular lake with normal spring water. The pilgrims are reminded of the endless energy of creation when they see the sitting pose of Lord Vishnu(Ananda Padmanabha) over a five hooded serpent Lord Anantha. The idol of Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy and other dols are made up of a rare combination of 108 materials known as 'Kadu Sarkara Yogam'. On both sides of the Lord Goddess Bhudevi (Earth)and Goddess Sree Devi(Prosperity). Garuda and Lord Hanuman stand in front of them and pray with their hands together. There are beautiful paintings of the Puranic times on the outer walls of the temple. A cave filled with perennial water is also present on the corner of the lake. It is believed that Lord Andapadmanabhan first settled here and later moved to Thiruvananthapuram through this cave.
