The oldest of the three, the Old Godavari Bridge or Havelock Bridge, was constructed in 1897 by Frederick Thomas Granville Walton and is a wonder of British engineering. This 2754 m long bridge is constructed of steel girders and masonry piers. As it had reached the end of its useful life, it was deactivated in 1997. Actually, the Havelock Bridge was intended to be replaced by the Godavari Arch Bridge.The newest bridge was erected in 1997 and is now in use. It is located next to Havelock Bridge. This bridge, built by the Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), is a marvel of contemporary engineering. Bow string girder arches are used to construct the bridge. The bridge can support 350 km/h train traffic. In 2003, the bridge was made accessible to train traffic. One of the longest concrete arch bridges in Asia is the Bridge.The Godavari area and Rajahmundry are most often represented by the Havelock Bridge & Godavari Arch Bridge site. This site has used as the backdrop for several Tollywood films. Between the Havelock and Godavari Arch Bridges is where you'll find the well-known Rajahmundry Pushkara Ghat.
