The incredible Shivlinga or the Shivling is 15 feet high and weighs 14 tonnes and is carved from a single black stone. Even though the place has been named and created in the honour of Lord Shiva, people from many different religions and castes also come here to view the beauty of the Temple. There are many stories and legends about how the temple came to be but the most common one is that a monk called Rampuri Ji had gone to Nepal and saw a similar Shivling in the Pashupathi Nath Temple and vowed that he would create the same in Shivpuri Dham. It is said that people come here to ask for forgiveness for their sins and for their wishes to come true.
