The grand palace complex of Amer Fort is the most significant monument in Rajasthan. The construction of the Amer fort first began with Raja Bharmal and Raja Man Singh I in 1558 and was completed in 1727 by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II. Amer fort was designated as the new residence for the royal family as opposed to the older establishment of Jaigarh Fort. Amer Fort is a great representation of Mughal architecture made up of red sandstone and marble. Suraj Pole and Chandpol gates lead to Jaleb Chowk (a courtyard) where previously returning troops presented their loot to the people. The fort has many sections, including the Royal Quarter, Zenana (where women lived), gardens, temples, and more.
Amber Palace is full of architectural marvels such as Diwane aam, Such Mandir, and Sheesh Mahal. Amber Palace also has several underground tunnels connecting Amer and Jaigarh Castle. Some of these tunnels have been repaired and are now open to the public. Amber Palace is a must-see perfect example of Rajasthan's architecture.
The essence of Amber Palace is embodied in a beautiful light and sound show inside the fortress, giving visitors an amazing view of the fortress's history.
