History

The Ganga Government Museum, one of Bikaner's most well-known museums, was established in 1937 by Maharaja Ganga Singh during his reign's golden jubilee year. As a result, the museum was given the name Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum. On November 5, Lord Linlithgow, the previous Governor General of India, officially opened the museum. The Maharaja donated a lot of amazing antiquities from his own palace in addition to purchasing numerous works of art from various regions of the state. The museum has exquisite collections of historical artifacts, sculptures, and other exquisite works of art. Hierarchical displays are used at this place. The Silk Robe of Shehzada Salim is only one of the features of the Ganga Government Museum. Another well-known feature is an outstanding collection of miniatures. The incredible collection at Ganga Government Museum also includes antique photographs, hunting equipment, trophies, cameras from that era, movie projectors, Gupta-era terracotta, traditional musical instruments, glassware, royal paintings, gold artwork created by local artists, and miniature replicas of the Royal Bikaner train, Gajner Palace, and Lallgargh Palace. Additionally, visitors may see many black-and-white images of India taken under the British Raj, Rajasthani war implements, and precious sculptures from the Harappan era.The museum complex also houses the Anup Library, which has priceless and uncommon Sanskrit texts from Raja Anup Singh's 17th-century dominion over the Deccan, as well as Litho prints from the British Empire.
