History

The Indian Archaeological Survey declared the palace a nationally important monument in 2003. The palace is just 2 kilometers from the Band Gardens in Jerawada, Pune Nagar Road. In front of the palace are Italian arches, huge lawns, and five waterfalls. The total area of the palace is 19 hectares including the lawn. The glorious spirit behind the birth of this magnificent monument, Aga Khan, gave the Indian people a palace in 1969 as a tribute to Gandhi and his philosophy Gandhi, where his ashes were stored. The Aga Khan Palace is one of the most important places to visit in Pune and is also an important archive showing the number of photographs and portraits of Mahatma Gandhi's life and other important figures of the struggle for freedom in India. It serves as the home of the Gandhi National Memorial Association.
