History

Kozhikode was formerly known as Calicut and Beypore, or the port of Beypore was a busy trading port in ancient India. Beypore Beach is famous for its shipyards over 1500 years old, several documents state that India effectively traded with Arabs, Chinese and Europeans during these years. Beypore was also one of the most important fishing ports in Kerala. The 2km stone bridge leading to the sea is the main attraction here. The beach has a quiet atmosphere and is popular with locals who frequently visit for picnics and other recreational activities. There is also a traditional Ayurvedic massage offer that tourists can enjoy after a long active day on the beach. The refreshing sun, tranquil beaches, are sure to take the heart away.
