History
Just 15 km from Pahalgam, Aru is an incredibly beautiful valley surrounded by snow-clad mountain peaks, pine trees, and green meadows all around. It is a central location for any hiking and trekking to the Kolahoi Glacier at an altitude of 18,000 feet. The drive to Aru is scenic and offers great views for the photographers to capture. There are about 20 alpine lakes, peaks, and meadows around the Aru Valley. In winter, when Aru is hit by heavy snow, skiing and heli-skiing take place. Other popular sightseeing activities include trout fishing, trekking, hiking, horseback riding, sightseeing, and photography on the Lidder River. One can also see many young fouls and calves along the way. Blue overhead canopies, surrealistic environments, whispers of local pine and coniferous forests, and gorgeous green vacant lots make Aru an idyllic honeymoon destination.
