History

The temple of the goddess Bajreshwari was built in the 11th century and is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Bajreshwari. The temple exhibits Shikhara-style architecture with magnificent stone carvings. One of the two pillars at the entrance provides information about the construction period of the temple. The temple lies in the bustling market area of the town amidst numerous food stalls, bustling streets, and echoing sounds of its huge bells. The festival of Makar Sankranti is a week-long celebration marked by the tradition where devotees apply ghee on the Goddess idol bathe her with holy water and adorn her with flowers.
