History

Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, also known as Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan or Patna Zoo, was opened for the public in 1973.  The park is one of the Patna's most frequented picnic spots and withesses a huge influx of tourists all year round.  The zoo is currently home to more than 800 animals including tiger, clouded leopard, hippopotamus and many more. You can see more than 110 species of wildlife and 300 species of trees in this place. The Zoo makes considerable effort to conserve endangered species from around the world.
