History
First of all, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1534) was born in Nabadwip, where some of India's greatest medieval scholars lived when he was born. The ancient Indian school of logic (tarka shastra) known as the 'Navya Nyaya' system was founded in Nabadwip, which produced some of the most outstanding logicians of the 15th century. Nabadwip was conquered by Bakhtiyar Khalji, ushering in Muslim rule in Bengal. The name of the city is derived from the combination of the Bengali words "Naba" (new) and "Dwipa" (island) and not, as is commonly assumed, from "Naba" (nine) islands. In very ancient times, the alluvial soil washed away by the Ganges was gradually deposited here, forming a new island that became Nabadwip. In his book Chaitanya Charitamritam, Kabi Karnapur refers to Nabadwip as "Nabin dwipam", which in turn means new island. It was the capital of Bengal under the rule of Palestine and later Lakshmanson, who ruled the Seine Empire.
