History

Nainital, the most popular hill station of Uttrakhand is mentioned as "Manas Khand" in various ancient texts. Then there is a legend that Masati's burned eyes fell here to form Lake Naini. Its name is derived from the Hindi word Naina, which means eyes. Later, in 1839, the British businessman Mr. P. Barron (sugar merchant) and his friend, an avid hunter, got lost while hunting in the mountains. You got lost and saw this wonderful place. The British were impressed by the beauty of Nainital to the extent that he established a European colony beside the Naini Lake. In 1841, Nainital's discovery was published in the first edition of British Calcutta. In 1862, Nainital officially became the "summer palace" of the northwestern province. Since then, it has developed rapidly.

This Anglican church was built in 1846 and is one of the oldest structures in Nainital. There are many libraries in the Nainital area. Nainital brims with elegant colonial architecture and underlines the beauty of this place. There are some small towns near Nainital, such as Pangot, Ranicht, and Almora, which are still relatively underdeveloped. There are also some hiking trails in Nainital.
