Located in the heart of Uttar Pradesh, Kushinagar is a fascinating tourist attraction 188 kilometers from Ayodhya and easily accessible from all over the country. It is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage related to the life of Lord Buddha. The place is also associated with Mahavir, the founder of Jainism, and the 24th generation of Jainism, Lord Tirthankara. Another notable site is the Temple of the Sun, built in the Gupta period (319 550 AD), which contains a beautiful statue of the sun god carved from precious sapphires. It is a historic city known for its magnificent pagodas and temples.
