Alampur

History

Alampur was governed by the Satavahanas, Ishvakus of Nagarjunkonda, Badami Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Kalyani Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Vijayanagar empire, and the qutub shahis of Golconda. Alampur was previously known as Halampuram, Hemelapuram, and Alampuram.

The town was mentioned as Hatampur in an inscription from the time of Western Chalukya ruler Vikramaditya in 1101 CE.

Alampur is a town in Telangana, India, located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River. The western entrance to the shrine is known as Alampur. The beautiful temple, as well as the ruins of other ancient temples, showcase Badami Chalukyan architecture. The major deities are Jogulamba which means "Mother of Yogis" and Balabrahmeshwara. Goddess Jogulamba is the sixth Shakti Peeta among the country's 18 shakti peethas. The town is also home to some great architectural structures like the Papanasam group of 24 temples, Suryanarayana and Narsimha Swamy temples, Bala Brahmeswara, and Renuka Matha Temple in Vundalli.
