History

Yuksom is the ancient capital of Sikkim and is also marked as a holy place, symbolically representing "the third eye of Sikkim." The city is called Yuksom, which literally means "the meeting place of three learned monks." In 1642, three lamas Chinpo, Lama Adaq, and Lama Kathok came to Tibet from Tibet. The main goal of these lamas was to perpetuate Tibet's control of Sikkim and to spread Buddhism. It has important historical significance to the Sikkim people. In 1642, the first King was crowned here. Even today, the stone throne is considered sacred, and the footprints of Rajon Chinpo can be seen near the throne

Formally known as the "Gangcheng Zongha Gate", its ancient temples, historical sites, tranquil waterfalls, and lakes will fascinate you. Yuksom was once the main capital of Sikkim and was also the site of its first Chogyal (lord) coronation ceremony, which will provide history lovers with a lot of things.
