History
The city leading to Yuntang in Sijin is located at the confluence of the Laqinchu River and the Layongchu River. The North Sikkim Highway forks from here, one leading to Lachin and the other leading to Layong. The Zhongtang Valley is considered a holy place blessed by Guru Padmasambhava, the patron saint of Sikkim. This is a stone, Guru Padmasambhava's hands and footprints are still there. From a small opening in the rock, came a steady stream of mineral water. There is a small piece of land here, and rice is grown here every year. This heaven-defying miracle is believed to be the blessing of Master Padmasambhava, who sprinkled a handful of grains where the rice sprouted. Chungthang is a good place to stop before heading to high mountain areas such as Lachen, Lachung and Yumthang valleys. Zhongtang is full of myths and legends, one of which is the birthplace of the term "De Ma Zong".

The city is famous for the legends and fables related to the master Padmasambhava, the patron saint of Sikkim. Tourists and locals alike paid tribute to the sacred stone with the hand and footprints of the saint. Guludongma Lake is believed to have the power to raise children for childless couples. Nature lovers must visit the Valley of Flowers.
Chungthang is a small town, not so much a common tourist attraction as a military base. But it offers magnificent mountain views, with small shops and restaurants scattered among traditional mountain houses. This is a good place to take a break from the road and taste the delicious local lepcha and Buddhist dishes. The locals are friendly and hospitable, and they see this part of the country from an internal point of view. In Zhongtang, you can see some holy places respected by Buddhists.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji (Guru Nanak Dev Ji) is also believed to have visited Zhongtang during his visit to China and Tibet. There is a tree in this city that should grow where Guru Nanak Dev placed his staff. The impressive Zhongtang Valley will stop here for a nice, peaceful and unconventional stop before heading to the high mountains of Lachin, Layong and Yuntang Valleys. The city is not only sacred, but also home to various interesting flora and fauna, attracting many wildlife and nature photographers to visit.
