History

Hoshiarpur is known as the historical city of India and has witnessed many dynasties and their rule. Hoshiarpur is believed to have been discovered during the 13th century. The founder of this city has two popular stories. According to tradition, Hoshiarpur was discovered by Hargobind and Ramchand, rulers of Muhammad Bin Tughlak, but some claim Hoshiar Khan, who resided in Bajwara near Hoshiarpur, found it. Perhaps, this area has always been a part of the civilization of the Indus Valley, demonstrating the existence of humans on this land since the Pleistocene.

Hoshiarpur is situated in the Shivalik Ranges of the great Himalayas.
