History

Ferozepur, also known as the Land of Martyrs, is located on the Sutlej River in the Ferozepur district of Punjab. The city has a long history that can be traced back to the centuries of the Afghan era in India. This historic city was established during the reign of the Tugeluk dynasty in the 14th century. According to historians, this ancient city near the India-Pakistan border was founded by the Sudanese Ferozeshah Tughluq. He was a Muslim ruler of the Tugeluk dynasty and was keen on building monuments, mosques, and monasteries. Sultan Ferozeshah is popular for establishing new cities and renaming old cities with his own name. During his reign, the city of Ferozepur was established in the 14th century and received his name. However, some historians claim that the city was founded by a famous Bati chief named Feroze Khan.
