History
Faridkot is the capital of the ancient princely state of Faridkot. Baba Farid, a prominent Muslim spiritual poet, inspired the city's name. The work of Baba Farid occupies a prominent place in the sacred Guru Granth Sahib. In his memory, the city was renamed Faridkot. The city of Faridkot also occupies a prominent position in the struggle for the independence of India. However, the establishment of the modern city as a princely country was established in 1763. This city placed the country under British sovereignty until 1947. Later it became part of the Patiala and East Punjab Union (PEPSU) in 1948. In addition, in November 1995, the Faridkot district was divided into three parts, namely its two districts.
