History
Kolasib is the central management headquarters of the Kolasib district, located in the northern part of the Mizoram Territory. The neighboring areas of Cachar and Hailakandi are located in the north and northwest of the Kolasib district. This small town was deliberately founded and has good connections to major urban areas of Mizoram. National Highway 54 connects the town with the capital of the state of Aizawl and different urban areas of neighboring states. Among the newest and smallest regions of the 11 Mizoram regions, Kolasib is located in the northern part of Mizoram, on the border with the Kacha region of Assam.
