History

Igatpuri lying in the district of Nashik , Maharashtra is as old as Nashik which is said to be the abode of Lord Rama while in exile. For this reason, the region has a great mythological significance for the Hindus. Famous Sanskrit Poets like Valmiki, Kalidasa, and Bhavabhutii visited the region to pay tributes. In the 14th Century, the region came under the rule of Mughals and was also home to the great Emperor Akbar. During the rule of great Shivaji, the place was known as the " Land Of the Braves". During the famous Kumbh Festival in Nashik, the place is thronged by a large number of pilgrims.
