History

Manali is named after the Hindu legislature "Manu". The name Manali is believed to be derived from "ManuAlaya", which means "residence of Manu". According to legend, after a great flood in the world, Saint Manu came down from his ark in Manali and rebuilt human life. Manali is north of the Kuru Valley. The "Valley of the Gods" is a popular nickname for this valley. The British got to know the apple trees of the town. Before planting apple trees nearby, the British established the main apple orchard. To this day, apples, plums, and pears are the best source of income for most residents. The pilgrims also brought rainbow trout and earth-colored trout to waterways and waves of space.
