Rajkot
History
Rajkot The city was founded by Thakorji Vibhaji in the year 1610. In the year of 1822, the British rule established an agency and maintained its name to the Kathiawad agency. The current Kothi area, which houses the customs and railway offices used to host the officials of that British agency during that period. The area of Sadar Rajkot was connected to Wankaner through the railways in the year 1889. Later a Rail connection between Rajkot and Jetaldar was established. To satisfy the aquatic needs of the city of Rajkot, which is based on the banks of the Aaji river, a new lake called Lalpari was founded in 1895. In 1925 Mahatma Gandhi for the first time visited the city and, therefore, established the First educational activities. In 1942, Rajkot contributed to the famous freedom movement Quit India. Rajkot was the capital of the state of Saurashtra from 1956 October, before its fusion with Bombay State on 1 November 1956. Rajkot returned to the state of Gujarat on 1 May 1960.

Another popular tourist site is the KHambhalida caves, cut out of Limestone. Ranjit Villas palace is another place that attracts a number of visitors every year. The Lal Pari lake surrounded by lush green mountains is another amazing spot among various others.
