History

Historically speaking, the ancient names of Junagadh were Kalan Kubuji, Manipur, Rifant, Chandraktupur, Narendrapur, Grinnagar, and it was also called Puratanpur. After 1820 AD, the British government. He named it Junagadh, which is registered by the state and is well received by the public. However, even today, the rural population still calls it Junagadh. Wood and marble handicrafts are the most famous here, the handmade rugs here are also very famous and have been since the past.

Gir National Park is one of the most popular national parks in India. It is famous for the endangered Asiatic Lions. There are numerous places to visit in Junagadh like the Uperkot Fort, Mahabat Maqbara, Damodarji Temple, Damodar Kund, Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden. The most famous is the Girnar mountain where the most famous of all the festivals the Shivaratri Festival is held. It is organized at the foot of Girnar Mountain and lasts for 5 days. Fair attracts more than 500,000 visitors each year, and another major occasion is Girnar Parikrama, which attracts nearly 1.5 million people and is also held once a year.
