Kawardha

History

 Founded in the mid-18th century, Kawardha is a beautiful little town in Chhattisgarh. The small town has a very rich history and a very lively gift. Kawardha has come a long way from a prosperous kingdom to an occasional princely state to a prominent base for San Guru Kabir. Against the backdrop of magnificent hills and lush greenery, it's a very popular weekend, especially for people all over the state. The Kawardha district is a charming and quiet location on the south bank of the Sakri River. His name was called Coverdam because of the arrival of Kabir Sahib and the establishment of the throne by the descendants of his disciple Dalamdas. Called Kawardha.

Facts & Culture

Kawardha is a scenic town situated on the top of the Maikal Hill range. The famous Kanha National Park is located in the southeast of Kawardha. Kawardha Palace is a must-see place for visitors. The man-made lake Saroda Reservoir is located around 12 Kms from Kawardha. Boating and fishing are the activities one can try here. The Radha Krishna temple is also a famous site for travelers, Sahaspur Wildlife Sanctuary is a great option for adventure seekers. The Bhoramdeo temple, carved on Nagar-style rock, is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a place of historical and archeological importance, about 17 kilometers away from the regional headquarters. From the 9th to the 14th century, this place was the capital of King Nagavanshi. The Shiva Linga in the temple is exquisitely carved and its artistic appeal attracts tourists. The Temple of Bhoramdeo has similarities to the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of Khajuraho in Konark. The journey to Kawardha cannot be completed without understanding its rich heritage.
