History

Over time, the origin of Bomdila has disappeared. It was part of the medieval kingdom of Tibet. Local tribal rulers and Bhutanese rulers generally rule it from time to time. Except for the retaliatory invasion of tribal territory, the Ahom ruler of Assam did not interfere with the local tribe. The British declared this area of Arunachal Pradesh as a frontier in 1873. Since India gained independence in 1947, the region has been the source of disagreement between India and China. China invaded the area around Bandila in 1962, but then withdrew from the area.

Bomdila is located at 27.25°N 92.4°E. Its average elevation is 2,217 meters (7273 feet). It is 109 kilometers away from Balupong and is the seat of the Sicamong District. This place is inhabited by tribes such as Hrusso, Sajalong, Mumpa, Cherdukpeng, and Havas.
