History

Bhalukpong is located 56 kilometers from Tezpur in Assam and serves as the entry point to Arunachal Pradesh. It is well-known for the archaeological site of King Baruka, the area's former monarch. After completing all the turbulent routes, the Kameng River enters Barupon with a calm current, providing a unique opportunity for adventurous trips and a beautiful picnic spot. Fishing and rafting are the main tourist activities in Bhalukpong. Bhalukpong is the gateway to popular destinations like Tawang and Bomdila. Tourist attractions around Bhalukpong include Bhalukpong Fort, Pakke Tiger Reserve / Sanctuary, and Tipi Orchidarium.

On this magnificent plateau east of the Himalayas, Tibetan Buddhism has developed over time. The region once relied on the glorious free Tibet rule from Lhasa, and today forms the western part of the forest state of Arunachal Pradesh. The land is the epitome of natural beauty with dense forests, fruits and flowers abound, mountains, rivers. Tawang culture is deeply influenced by Tibetan and Buddhist lifestyles. Tawang has many monasteries called Gompas, which have a peaceful and peaceful atmosphere. The locals celebrate three main festivals namely Torgya Harvest, Lossar, and Choekhor. The area is dominated by tourism, and its occupation is basically agriculture. Here the staple food is Zan, a flatbread with meat or vegetables. Popular dishes include Gyapa Khazi, momo, and thukpa. The Menba people here are creative and good at wood carving, Thangka painting, carpet making, and weaving. Buddhist lamas in the region are famous for making wooden bowls and products woven from bamboo.
